Move in from another program

If you started the year somewhere else, you do not have to start again.
From a CSV file
Section titled “From a CSV file”Open Finances → CSV import and choose your file. It wants one row per booking: a date, a description, a debit and a credit account, and an amount. That is how most accounting programs export.
Flok works out which column is which and shows you what it decided. Anything it cannot place, you point at the right field or leave out. The date format is read from the file too — so 3.4. does not silently become 4 March.
You see a preview before anything is booked. Only when you confirm does an entry exist.
Uploading the same file twice
Section titled “Uploading the same file twice”Nothing happens twice. An import is recognised per file, so if you are not sure whether the first attempt went through, just do it again.
Bringing a whole finished year
Section titled “Bringing a whole finished year”If your old program gave you a complete, closed year, Flok reconciles it rather than merging it in: it compares the closing position in your file against what your old software reported.
If the two disagree, you are told before you build a year on top of it. That is the moment it is cheap to find.
Invoices already in Flok
Section titled “Invoices already in Flok”Those need no import at all. The journal shows a notice offering to take them over: unpaid invoices become money owed to you, paid ones become income. One page, shown before anything is written.
Receipts afterwards
Section titled “Receipts afterwards”Attach them to imported entries whenever you get to it. In the journal, the Receipt missing filter shows exactly which entries are still waiting for one.
