Let members look after their own details
Addresses go out of date. The cheapest fix is to stop being the only person who can correct them.
What a member gets
Section titled “What a member gets”Your members can sign in at your club’s own address with their email and a six-digit code. No password to choose and no password to forget.
Once in, they can:
- correct their own details — address, phone, the fields you have added
- see their invoices, and pay the open ones if you have a payment account
- find their tickets for events they have booked
Changes land in your member list straight away. Nobody has to retype anything.
The directory, if you want it
Section titled “The directory, if you want it”Members can also appear in a directory, so they can find each other — one line about themselves, what they do, what they can help with.
It is off until you switch it on, and then every member decides for themselves, detail by detail, whether something is visible to fellow members, available on request, or hidden.
A member can ask for a detail that is “on request”. The owner accepts or declines, and can withdraw it again later.
Why bother
Section titled “Why bother”A club of 200 with a current address list has usually stopped maintaining it centrally. This is the mechanism that lets you stop.
